A recent report of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has stressed the importance of the Meeting Industry for the Tourist Industry and, among other recommendations, has advised extending the UN’s Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) to study its economic impact worldwide.
Two years of work The report is the result of two years of work by the WTO, the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), Meeting Professionals International (MPI), and Reed Travel Exhibitions (RTE). The organisation explained that the TSA has become a benchmark for tourism statistics, based on economic data and the Tourist Industry’s direct macroeconomic contribution.
