New features in this year’s edition will include mini-Olympics with the participation of over 2,000 children, who will be able to compete in more than seven sports, including football, basketball, athletics, rhythmic gymnastics, judo and hockey.
Afterwards, some of the sports facilities (a football pitch with artificial turf and three mini-basketball courts) will remain open to children attending the event during the rest of the fair.
In addition, members of the Unicaja basketball team are expected to attend the fair during the mini-Olympics.
Leisure activities The leisure activity area will include different attractions that favour the development of children’s psychomotor development, in addition to team games such as gymkhanas. New activities in this year’s edition include a climbing wall, a Tibetan bridge, rappelling, giant inflatables, jumping, the Disney Channel maze and a synthetic skating rink.
Occupying 10,800m2, the fair will also be offering a wide range of activities, including handcraft, make-up and hairdressing workshops. Likewise, the Picasso Foundation has organised a painting workshop whose aim is to introduce children to the life and work of this world-famous artist from Malaga.
Last but not least, there will be a stage on which children can give rein to their imagination through story-telling, karaoke and different entertainment and dance shows. As in past editions, there will be a play area with the latest in educational toys for all ages, and a kindergarten for children under three.
Solidary MIMA As in previous editions, MIMA will be spreading the Christmas spirit by encouraging the people of Malaga to donate new toys or second-hand ones in good condition, which will then be distributed among needy children by the charity organisation Nuevo Futuro.
The fair, to be held from 20 December-4 January 2008, will be open to the public from 10am-3pm on the 20th, from 10am-9pm on the 21st, and from 11am-9pm from the 22nd onwards, expect 24, 25, 31 December and 1 January when it will remain closed.
Entrance tickets will cost 6 euros for children and 3 euros for adults. There will be an extra charge of 4 euros for the use of the skating rink.
