EX – seminar on the role of TV The EX programme (live arts at AlhondigaBilbao) will get the first quarter of 2012 off to a start with the seminar "Artists killed media stars," which will address the complexities and changing relations between films, TV, video and art. This research work on the imaginaries stemming from the autonomous TV channel since the 1980s is a reflection on the dissolution of the traditional working class concept and the radical transformation of the city of Bilbao.
Experts on the subject, such as Peter Watkins, Martha Rosler and Angel Quintana, will be participating in conferences and roundtables on the past and present of TV and its relationship to art.

The Atrium, a space for creativity From January on, the Atrium of AlhondigaBilbao will be hosting a stable cultural programme, free of charge, featuring the most innovative cultural performances by emerging artists and groups.
Zinemateka 2012 AlhondigaBilbao's Zinemateka will be starting the year with a cycle dedicated to the film director Fritz Lang, focusing on his silent films produced in the Weimar years. From 11-16 January, screenings will include classics such as "Metropolis", and others that have been recuperated over the last few years, like "Die Nibelungen", "Spione", "Woman in the Moon," or "Dr Mabuse".
This will be followed by a second cycle, starting on 29 February, dedicated to John Ford, featuring the best known films from the second phase of his career from 1948-1966. Then in May and June, the Zinemateka will be paying homage to the novelist and scriptwriter Jorge Semprun, coinciding with the first anniversary of his death. Finally, at the end of the year, there will be cycles dedicated to the directors Robert Aldrich and Michelangelo Antonioni.
